Volunteer Befriender

In April 2021, in response to the effects of loneliness and isolation on people’s wellbeing (physical, emotional, social, and mental health) in Aberdeen, we developed the TLC Befriending Project.

Also, as of October 2022, in response to the crippling affects of the financial crisis the UK is experiencing, our befriending project also supports those who are vulnerable and would find it difficult to make appointments to receive financial and energy advice & support.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for volunteers with excellent communication skills; patience and tact; a caring, sympathetic, sensitive manner, a non-judgmental approach who are  reliable, and who can commit to at least one to two hours a week volunteering.

Travel details: Aberdeen City based.
Minimum age: 18

What you can expect from us:

We provide excellent support to all our volunteers, including extensive Induction and other continuous trainings. We are with you every step of the way.

In 2002, TLC started providing food bank support, eventually partnering with the Trussell Trust. We primarily operate a delivery model; however, we do operate a centre in the community

What we are looking for:

We are looking for volunteers to help us in our food bank operations in several roles, from sorting and packing donations in our warehouse, to volunteering at our centre.

We are looking for volunteers who are kind and compassionate, non-judgemental, and work well in a team and who can commit at least one hour a week volunteering.

What you can expect from us:

You will receive specific training by our food bank manager dependent on role, as well as continuous training when required.
